Know Your Client (KYC) Forms

What is KYC?

Know Your Customer (KYC) is the standard global due diligence process implemented by investment firms. In addition to being a legal requirement, KYC helps investment firms better understand client investment objectives and reduce the risk of suspicious activities.

KYC identifies investors, and their wealth status, verifies fund sources and requires anti-money laundering (AML) information. This detailed information protects both the investor and the investment firm. KYC develops a foundation to provide superior customer service, prevent liability, and avoid association with fraudulent activities.

KYC is completed with every new investor as they make their initial investment, even if they have completed the same process before when investing with a different entity. Until this verification has been completed, the investment is not complete.

In addition to the new investor KYC process, repeat investors must renew their KYC profile to maintain up-to-date, accurate records.

Why is KYC Important?

KYC removes the risk of onboarding clients involved in illegal activities such as money laundering, fraud, or financing terrorism. Critical when onboarding a politically exposed person (PEP), KYC protects those working in public office who might be targeted for corruption or bribery.

From an investor’s point of view, the rigorous checks may seem burdensome. However, the process creates a trustworthy, secure environment for investment activities with the firm. Technology allows for a streamlined KYC experience with advanced authentication and encryption in every KYC procedure.
