In 1982, Gord Wintrup started Bayfield Mortgage Professionals Ltd. in Langley, British Columbia with two brokers and the commitment of providing clients with good service and professionalism. Through innovative and out-of-the-box thinking, Gord built a strong, independently-owned brokerage along with mortgage investment corporation (MIC) portfolios.
Today, Bayfield operates with the same core values and has over 82 brokers serving British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba. As Wintrup explains, “We take people’s finances seriously. As mortgage brokers, we work with each other – as a family – not in competition with one another. By working in the best interests of our client, we work with our clients to turn challenges into opportunities.”
Hand-picked by Gord as part of his succession planning, Inder Matharu – Bayfield’s Vice President – comes to Bayfield from the banking industry. Inder entered the bank industry as a teller in his university days spending years working in both finance and business roles both locally and abroad, only to return to what he knows and enjoys most.
Inder is fully aware of the shoes he has to fill. With Gord as both his mentor and teacher, Inder is well on his way to furthering the Bayfield legacy with the same morals, ethics, and family values that built the Bayfield foundation.
